Joe Young

Joe Young is a South African theatre maker and writer working across mediums to create
experimental and playful performances.
Having trained in South Africa his work has focused on issues of post-colonial identities in
contemporary South Africa, as well as exploring the process of writing mental health,
looking at the body as a site of knowledge. Focusing on creating visceral responses to
mental processes as a means of externalising the crises, Joe works on immersive works.
His most recent projects include working as part of the team running William Kentridge
Centre for the Less Good Idea and performing as part of DarkNoon by Tue Biering and
Fix&Foxy.
His writing can be found in South African magazines Prufrock, as well as in OddMagazine,
as well as his personal blog 50h0h.
